ekihouse

Conscious design for energy savings . The whole house design has contributed for the lowest energy spending. This has been achieved with the form and space design of the house, which has been thought since the beginning of the project. The house is patterned to harness the solar energy during winter and to be shaded during summer. The purpose is to decrease the demands for the active solar mechanism. To continue, a complicated volume was avoided. Ekihouse is a prism because is the volume which less heat and cool losses has. Besides that, it was decided to open both Northern and Southern facades in order to get natural light as many hours as possible for the purpose of electricity saving. These openings will help with cross-ventilation as well. In the other two sides, the Western and Easter facades, technical rooms are situated, next to the kitchen and the bathroom. In this way the transportation of energy is the shortest.
